History surrounds every celebration here. Heritage buildings dot the grounds, and the windows of the main hall look out over them and the museum's gardens.
The Whitchurch-Stouffville Museum & Community Centre is operated by the Town of Stouffville. The site includes the Bogarttown School House, built in 1857, a log cabin from around 1850, a Victorian-era farmhouse from around 1860, the Vandorf Public School from 1870, a historic barn, and a modern facility added in 2012.
The museum welcomes wedding ceremonies and receptions, along with showers and other celebrations. The Main Hall offers 1,420 square feet of event space, a gas fireplace and extra counter space for buffet service, and holds up to 100 guests.
For smaller gatherings, the Community Room offers 357 square feet with windows facing the log cabin. It holds about 30 guests standing or in theatre seating, or about 20 seated boardroom style.
Rentals include in-house tables and chairs set up to the couple's plan in the Main Hall, Community Room and courtyard, along with on-site parking in the lot at Vandorf Park. Audio and visual equipment, including a sound system, projector and screen, can be added.
The heritage buildings are not rented for events, but guests are welcome to walk the grounds. Photography packages allow couples to take engagement or wedding photos on the grounds and inside the heritage buildings with a staff member present.
The museum team works with couples throughout the planning process.
