Transfer safely
Five steps that keep a transfer clean, whoever you’re dealing with.
- 01Confirm with the venue or vendor directly.
Call or email them through their own website, and confirm the booking exists, the date, and that it transfers.
- 02Get the name change in writing.
A contract amendment or an email from the vendor naming you as the new client.
- 03Pay traceably.
E-transfer, cheque or card, with a written receipt. Never cash, wire services or gift cards.
- 04Time it right.
Pay when the amendment is signed, not before.
- 05Keep the thread.
Save every message, document and receipt until after the big day.
Red flags
Pressure to pay today. A seller who won’t loop in the venue. A price that seems impossible. Anyone asking for wire transfers or gift cards. Walk away and report it: support@opendates.ca.
