The wedding that almost happened

I started OpenDates in Toronto because I lived the story first. I was a bride whose plans changed, and I lost all the money I had put down: the venue date, the deposits, the dress. Through all of it, the hardest part was searching for one central place to sell what I could and finding that it simply didn’t exist. Then, planning again, I hit the other side of it: emailing venues one at a time and waiting days to hear whether a Saturday was free, with no way to see who was actually open on my date. So OpenDates became two things at once: a place for couples to pass on what they can no longer use, and a place where venues, photographers, planners, officiants and every wedding business show their open dates, so you can see who is free, in one place, and get on with planning an amazing day instead of chasing replies.

My promise is to take as much of that stress away as possible with one marketplace for just about everything wedding, open to everyone: couples looking, couples passing something on, and the venues and vendors who make the day. Transfers verified in writing, pages reviewed by hand, nothing published until you say go, and we never take a cut.
