Big rural skies and room to breathe set the tone at the West Niagara Agricultural Centre & Fairgrounds, a 95-acre property in Grassie that the West Niagara Agricultural Society opens for weddings throughout the year.
The centre offers easy access from Hamilton, Grimsby, Lincoln, St. Catharines and across the Niagara Region. It is operated by a volunteer-led non-profit that also hosts the annual West Niagara Fair.
Weddings take place in the Community Hall, where couples have exclusive use of the building. The main hall is 7,000 square feet with 16-foot ceilings and large windows overlooking the rural property.
The hall can seat up to 400 guests for a sit-down dinner, with tables and chairs provided. A low 24-by-12-foot stage, a podium, a basic sound system with a wireless microphone, and a projector and screen are also available.
Couples can bring in their own caterer, who will find a large kitchen with a walk-in cooler and plenty of prep space, serving into the hall through two doors and a roll-up window. An adjacent bar room also serves through its own roll-up window.
Directly beside the Community Hall is a large outdoor space with a gazebo garden that can be added to the reception. A foyer, cloak room and a smaller meeting room for about 30 guests round out the building.
Parking is plentiful, with paved spaces for 100 vehicles and overflow parking for up to 600. Overnight accommodation is available in nearby Grimsby.
For couples who want space for a big guest list, the freedom to work with their own vendors and a relaxed countryside setting, the West Niagara Agricultural Society offers a hall with room for everyone.
