About
Upper Canada Village

A wedding at Upper Canada Village begins in a church from the 1830s, with a horse-drawn carriage waiting outside and a living 19th century village all around.

The Village recreates an 1860s community on the St. Lawrence River near Morrisburg, gathering historic buildings into a riverside setting with working farms, mills, trade shops and furnished homes.

Ceremonies are held in Christ Church, built in 1837 and moved here from Moulinette, one of the Lost Villages. Its calm classical lines are softened by pointed Gothic windows and a decorated tower, and a Village staff member can play a vintage melodeon for the service.

Couples can arrive in the Pommier Carriage, a black vis-a-vis carriage with gold trim and a folding top. Horse-drawn carry-alls can bring guests in groups of 15 to 20 from the main entrance to the church.

Food and drink for celebrations at the Harvest Barn or Willard's Hotel are provided by the Village's exclusive caterer.

As a museum, the Village protects the church and its contents, so couples review its guidelines before decorating.

For couples who picture candlelit history, a carriage ride and vows in a heritage chapel, Upper Canada Village offers a wedding that feels like stepping back to the 1860s.
