Some weddings are shaped by a garden. At University Golf Club, trees, a bridge, a pond with a stream and a new pergola set the scene for vows in the fresh Vancouver air.
The club's outdoor garden area offers on-site ceremony space, so couples can say their vows and move straight into the celebration without guests ever needing to travel across the city.
With about 4,000 square feet of recently updated event space, the club has two banquet rooms, each with its own private patio and built-in dance floor.
The 2,400-square-foot Salon can accommodate approximately 100 to 200 guests for a seated reception and up to around 225 for a cocktail reception. The 1,600-square-foot Westpoint Room suits smaller celebrations, with room for roughly 50 to 90 seated guests or around 100 for cocktails.
Food comes from the club's in-house Executive Chef, with plated, buffet and cocktail reception menus that can be customized to a couple's taste, from appetizers and entrees to taco bars and slider stations. The club is committed to supporting local, provincial and Canadian products wherever possible.
Complimentary wedding services include white table linens with coordinating napkins, cutlery, dinnerware and glassware, gift, DJ, guest book and cake tables, flameless LED candles, a cake knife and toasting glasses, and complimentary guest parking.
The Events Team helps customize each celebration, and the club works with a list of preferred vendors, from decorators and florists to photographers, DJs and planners. Lovely trees, the bridge and the new pergola all add to the beauty of the garden setting.
The celebrations can stretch beyond the wedding itself. Couples might host an engagement party, rehearsal dinner or bridal shower here, and golf lovers in the family can book a round before the big day, followed by apres-golf time in the club's public house and grill room.
