Since 1973, the Ukrainian Youth Unity Complex has been a gathering place in north Edmonton, a hall built by and for a community that knows how to celebrate together.
The complex was built to accommodate Edmonton community organizations such as the Ukrainian Youth Association and the Verkhovyna Ukrainian Song and Dance Ensemble. Today it hosts weddings, banquets and parties, along with conferences and concerts.
The Banquet Hall accommodates up to approximately 380 guests, with access to the stage and piano. For a smaller celebration, the Reception Room serves up to around 110. With the stage and audio-visual equipment in use, the banquet hall can also be set theatre-style for up to 500 people.
Rentals include tables and banquet chairs, complimentary set-up and clean-up, and a podium and microphone. Depending on availability, access for decorating is possible the day before the event.
Food is prepared fresh on site. Menus can be served buffet-style or family-style, and sides include favourites such as cabbage rolls, pyrohy and nalysnyky, with vegetarian and vegan options available. Head table service can be arranged on request.
Bar service is available with bartenders, glassware and mixers, and a projector, screen and sound system can be added.
The complex is a non-profit charitable organization, and most of its staff are volunteers who give their time so that guests have a pleasant and relaxed experience. Free parking, coat check, free wifi and wheelchair accessibility round out the practical details.
For couples who want a spacious reception with home-style cooking and room for a big family celebration, the Ukrainian Youth Unity Complex offers a welcoming hall with decades of community history.
