Some weddings are meant to unfold in rooms with a long history. The National Club, founded in 1874, is one of Toronto's leading business and social clubs, and its clubhouse on Bay Street was built in 1907.
A designated historic site in the heart of the downtown financial district, the clubhouse combines warm heritage charm with a contemporary aesthetic.
Weddings here feel exclusive. The club books only one event per date, and the whole first and second floor of the clubhouse is committed to the couple and their guests.
The Main Dining Room is the centrepiece, a grand room with high ceilings and chandeliers that can seat a maximum of 200 guests depending on the setup. A dance floor, a podium and a microphone are ready for speeches and dancing.
Guests often begin with an initial reception in the Bar Lounge or on the Rooftop if weather permits, before moving into the Main Dining Room for dinner. The Marconi Lounge offers a place for quiet conversation while photographs are taken elsewhere in the club.
Dining is handled by the club, with a selection of specially designed dinner menus that can be tailored to each couple. Weddings of 80 or more receive a complimentary menu sampling once confirmed, along with complimentary cake cutting and special children's menus.
Tables, chairs, full place settings, glassware and white floor-length linens are included, along with votive candles, table mirrors, place cards, menu cards, a seating chart, a decorated cake table and a card box.
When the evening ends, some guests can retire to the club's guest rooms. The couple receives a complimentary suite on the night of the wedding, and beautifully appointed rooms are available for photographs.
For couples who picture an elegant downtown wedding steeped in history, with a dedicated team and a clubhouse all their own, The National Club offers a celebration of real distinction.
We never use a venue’s photos without permission.
