The Metro

Some receptions call for white walls and quiet elegance. Others call for crystal chandeliers, plush couches and a dance floor that stays busy long into the night.

The Metro Hall is an 8,500 square foot banquet hall in downtown New Westminster, across the street from the New Westminster SkyTrain station, making it easy for guests to arrive from across the Lower Mainland.

The heart of the venue is the Hollywood Ballroom, a modern take on a 1920s supper club and lounge. It can host up to 400 guests for a cocktail reception, 40 to 200 for a banquet and up to 200 theatre style, with a show stage, floating dance floor, fully equipped bar, and a top floor balcony and mezzanine.

For smaller celebrations, the Glam Lounge welcomes groups of roughly 10 to 62 guests in cozy, luxurious surroundings. Couples can choose one room or book the entire facility for a larger event and more privacy.

The hall comes pre-furnished for cocktail style celebrations, with micro-suede seating, antiqued glass tables and chandeliers, while an on-site rental centre supplies tables, chairs and linens for a seated dinner. LED lighting can be changed to match a colour scheme, from blue and gold to purple and pink.

Food and drink can be handled in-house, with in-house chefs and a licensed bar, or couples can bring in their own caterer or blend the two. The team also offers wedding planners, DJs and decor designers, and couples can hire as much or as little help as they like.

The Metro also welcomes theme weddings, and has hosted everything from Gatsby galas to Hollywood and rockabilly celebrations.
