The Marmalade Motel

At the Marmalade Motel, an oceanfront wedding means panoramic views of the sea, sunsets from private balconies and the whole place reserved for the people you love.

The motel sits in the small village of Port Dufferin on Nova Scotia's rugged Eastern Shore. Its owners left city life behind and turned a humble nine room roadside motel into a bright, playful retreat with ocean views throughout.

Weddings here are fully coordinated, with the team looking after florals, food, decor and entertainment so the couple can simply enjoy the day.

Couples can book out the entire property, so every balcony and every room belongs to their group. Guests gather around the fire pit in the evening, and there are cozy indoor spaces as well as the grounds by the water.

The property also includes oceanside cottages, and in 2026 it was named Modern Hotel of the Year for Nova Scotia in an international travel and hospitality awards program.

For couples who picture a small, joyful seaside celebration with everyone staying together by the ocean, the Marmalade Motel offers a wedding that is relaxed, colourful and full of coastal charm.
