The Inn at Gore Bay

At The Inn at Gore Bay, a wedding unfolds on a covered veranda facing the North Channel, where the evening ends with a Manitoulin Island sunset over the water.

The inn sits at the edge of the harbour in the town of Gore Bay on Manitoulin Island, the largest freshwater island in the world. It first opened in the late 1950s, and its original pine floors, wooden beams and large stone fireplace still reflect the logging history of the area.

The rustic rooms, the water, the forest and the open sky come together for a destination wedding with a true island feel. Receptions can be held in the Large Dining Room, which holds up to 150 people including staff, or the Small Dining Room for up to 40. The kitchen prepares the meal, and the team builds custom packages for each event.

Ten renovated guest rooms look out over the water, with king beds, local art and either a balcony upstairs or a patio near the shoreline below. Guests can watch boats come into the harbour and stroll the boardwalk to shops and restaurants.

Manitoulin itself becomes part of the weekend, with kayaking, hikes along the East Bluffs and the rest of the island to explore.
