The Flying U

Canada's oldest guest ranch, established in 1849, the Flying U brings a true western spirit to a wedding weekend in the Cariboo.

Located in 70 Mile House, British Columbia, the ranch offers a natural open ceremony area overlooking a secluded lake, with couples and guests arriving to the Strawberry Fields ceremony site by hay ride.

The main reception lodge is a solid pine log building with a magnificent beamed ceiling. The Century Room is a log restaurant with turn-of-the-century decor, and the Saloon is a stand-alone western saloon complete with its own player piano.

Wedding packages include a deluxe banquet with complimentary wine, and a wine and cheese reception on the Friday night, with ranch staff catering the celebration.

Guests stay in private log cabins set within a complete western town, and for groups over 60 the entire ranch is reserved for the party. Secluded gardens and a gated entrance add privacy.

Between celebrations there is plenty to do. The ranch has the largest riding herd in Canada, 60,000 acres of trails, a private waterfront with canoes and a sailboat, a horseshoe pit, archery and a movie theatre for the kids.
