Some celebrations feel more personal when they happen somewhere with a story of its own. At Cool Beer Brewing Company, an award-winning local Toronto brewery, guests gather beside the very brewhouse where the beer is made.
The brewery's event space is called the Cool Room. Floor-to-ceiling, multi-paned windows look straight into the brewhouse, giving the celebration a backdrop that is unmistakably its own.
The Cool Room accommodates groups of up to 88 people. It is an open-concept room with high ceilings and modern furniture, and the brewery describes the atmosphere as very social.
Over the years the room has hosted corporate parties, product launches, fundraisers, charity events, birthdays, stags and weddings.
Practical touches are built in. There is an on-site kitchen to keep food warm or cool, a bar equipped with a draft machine and fridges, audio-visual equipment for entertainment and free on-site parking.
The space is fully customizable, and couples coordinate their own catering and bar and serving staff. A Special Occasions Permit from the LCBO is required to sell or serve alcohol, and events finish by 2:00 a.m., with alcohol service ending at 1:00 a.m.
That flexibility suits couples who want to choose their own food, plan their own bar and shape the evening around their own people.
