About
The Butternut Tree

A wedding at The Butternut Tree in Edmonton is lit by tall windows looking out over the river valley, with reclaimed wood beams overhead and a seasonal Canadian menu on every plate.

The restaurant sits in downtown Edmonton beside the river valley, a short walk from the Alberta Legislature Grounds. Chef Scott Downey opened it in 2017 to celebrate Canadian ingredients and the changing seasons.

The dining room works for ceremonies, receptions and elegant seated dinners. A full restaurant buyout seats up to 75 guests or welcomes up to 100 for a standing reception.

Smaller celebrations fit in a curtained private dining area for up to 12 guests, with a projector for slideshows, or in a group area for up to 20.

The kitchen prepares plated dinners and passed canapés built around seasonal produce, usually in three or four courses, with wine pairings available. A dedicated wedding and events manager helps plan each detail.

For couples who picture a long dinner of beautiful local food with a view of the valley, The Butternut Tree offers a refined, intimate wedding in the heart of the city.
