Located about 45 minutes from downtown Ottawa, Temple's Country Weddings sits within a 70-acre maple sugar bush. Couples have exclusive use of the property for the day, and celebrations can be held indoors or out at any time of year.
The heart of the venue is an authentic post and beam timber frame hall, open to the public since 2007, where giant pine beams are held together with hand-whittled hardwood dowels. Soaring vaulted ceilings, cozy lofts at each end and maple floors made from trees salvaged after the 1998 ice storm give the room its warmth.
Ceremonies can take place in several settings. A clearing in the maple forest offers rustic log benches, an arch for greenery or flowers and a covered music station for a DJ or musicians, while the perennial gardens and grand arbour suit an outdoor ceremony or welcome cocktail. For a winter wedding, the handcrafted stone fireplace with its black cherry mantle becomes a backdrop for an intimate indoor ceremony.
Temple's can host up to 200 guests, whether for a ceremony with a sit-down dinner and reception or for a cocktail-style celebration.
All food and drink is prepared and served on site. The culinary team creates personalized wedding menus from fresh, locally sourced ingredients, and a full-service bar features wines, beers and spirits from local producers. Couples can also make use of an extensive décor collection, with setup included and an on-site coordination team to guide planning, the rehearsal and the day itself.
Getting ready has its own spaces too: a bright bridal loft with a vanity, full-length mirror and comfortable seating, and a secluded log cabin with a wood-crafted bar where the other half of the wedding party can relax before the ceremony.
The property is wheelchair accessible, with ramps into the hall and plenty of free parking, and a list of nearby inns and hotels in Lanark, Perth, Carleton Place and Kanata helps travelling guests plan their stay.
