Snowking's Snow Castle

At Snowking's Snow Castle, a wedding takes place inside a palace of snow and ice, with carved walls, ice windows and soft light glowing through the frozen rooms.

Each winter, the Snowking Winter Festival Society builds the castle by hand in Yellowknife with its crew and volunteers. The finished structure covers roughly 20,000 square feet and includes a courtyard with ice slides, hand carved details and a Great Hall.

The enclosed Great Hall has a stage and cozy snugs, a full sound system and gentle LED lighting. Heat can be turned on in the hall before guests arrive, which makes it a magical setting for a ceremony on a cold northern day.

Private rentals are offered during the festival month in two-hour blocks, and weddings are one of the celebrations the castle welcomes. Each rental is a closed-door event, so the couple and their guests have the space to themselves. Chairs and tables come from an outside rental company, and food stays outside the castle.
