At Sawdust City Brewing Co., a wedding unfolds inside a working Muskoka craft brewery, where the beer in every glass was made just steps from the dance floor.

The brewery sits on the main street of Gravenhurst, the town once nicknamed Sawdust City back when mills and lumberyards lined the shores of Lake Muskoka. The brewery took that old nickname as its own, and it now fills a former Canadian Tire building that was bought in 2013 and turned into a 20,000 square foot brewhouse.

Celebrations take place in the Event Center, a newly renovated space set over two floors beneath a tall mezzanine. It can seat up to 200 guests, and the brewery names weddings among the events it hosts there.

The Event Center has a bar of its own, private restrooms, and up-to-date audio-visual and sound systems for speeches, slideshows and music.

Drinks are the heart of the place. The Saloon pours from 18 taps, with year-round beers, seasonal releases, collaborations and barrel-aged specialties, plus wine, spirits, cider and a selection of single malt scotch. Every beer starts with Muskoka water.

Guests can also spend time on the dog-friendly patio or browse the large retail store for cans, growlers and Canadian-made merchandise to take home. Look for the big yellow Muskoka chair out front.
