About
Saint John Arts Centre

A wedding at the Saint John Arts Centre takes place inside a grand former library, where tall ceilings, historic architecture and walls of art give the day a graceful, creative backdrop.

The centre sits in the heart of Uptown Saint John in the Carnegie Building. Built in 1904 as the city library, the building was reopened by volunteers in 2002 as a home for the arts, and today its galleries and studios show contemporary art and fine craft.

The Port Saint John Gallery is the main wedding space. It can host a ceremony for about 100 guests, a seated dinner for 60, or a standing cocktail reception for 80 to 150, and use of the Rotunda comes with it.

The City Gallery offers a similar feel for smaller groups. Its two connected sections make a more intimate setting, and it also includes use of the Rotunda.

Behind the scenes, the Tompkins Studio Hall works well for caterers or for getting ready. Couples who want room to spread out can book the whole main floor, with both galleries, the studio hall and the Rotunda together.

Rentals come with a number of included amenities, and optional extras can be added to shape the day.

For couples who picture their vows surrounded by art and century-old architecture in the middle of the city, the Saint John Arts Centre offers a wedding that feels cultured, personal and rooted in Saint John history.
