Imagine raising a glass beneath a four-storey sky-lit atrium, with a towering dinosaur standing watch over the party.
Founded in 1914, the Royal Ontario Museum opens its galleries for private evening events, from an intimate dinner for 10 to a gala for 500, or a cocktail party for 2,500 when the entire museum is booked.
The Hyacinth Gloria Chen Crystal Court is a dramatic sky-lit atrium that combines with the Samuel Hall Currelly Gallery, the museum's 'Jewel', to welcome up to around 550 guests for dinner or 1,100 for cocktails. The Gallery of Chinese Architecture next door can be added for dessert receptions.
For smaller celebrations, the c5 Lounge on Level 5 showcases the architecture of the Michael Lee-Chin Crystal and views of the city, with room for about 100 at dinner or 130 for a cocktail reception.
The RBC Foundation Glass Room is a 1933 Art Deco space with a triple-height ceiling, a glass floor and a vintage Steinway grand piano, seating about 100. Eaton Court, with warm wood tones evoking historic Europe, also hosts about 100 for dinner.
Gallery settings add wonder of their own. Guests can mingle among dinosaurs and fossils, gems and minerals, or the natural history collections, with dinners for up to around 100 in the Age of Dinosaurs galleries.
The museum's event professionals provide full-service planning support, working with exclusive caterers and authorized audiovisual and equipment suppliers.
For couples who want a celebration surrounded by art, culture and natural history, the Royal Ontario Museum offers an evening that guests will talk about for years.
