Royal Newfoundland Yacht Club

At the Royal Newfoundland Yacht Club, a wedding comes with a panoramic view over Conception Bay and evening sunsets across the water.

The club sits on Long Pond, a sheltered saltwater pond protected from the Atlantic by a barachois that forms a natural breakwater, about 15 miles from St. John's.

Its story began in 1935 with a canoe trip on Long Pond, and the Avalon Yacht Club officially opened in 1936 before growing into the Royal Newfoundland Yacht Club. Traditions like the sail past carry on today.

Couples can hold the ceremony on site and choose an indoor reception in the clubhouse dining room, which looks out over Conception Bay, or an outdoor tent reception.

All inclusive packages serve 100 to 200 guests with a three-course dinner or cocktail reception, decorating, a DJ, wedding cake and use of the grounds for photos. The clubhouse holds up to 120 for a wedding dinner.

An experienced wedding planner and the club's kitchen and bar team coordinate the meal and service from start to finish.

For couples who picture a seaside sunset and a tent full of family by the water, the Royal Newfoundland Yacht Club offers a wedding with true Conception Bay charm.
