Across the harbour from downtown, the Toronto skyline rises over the water, and the Royal Canadian Yacht Club's Island Clubhouse sits with a front-row view.
The historic Island Clubhouse hosts private ceremonies, receptions and dinners from May to September. Each room has its own nautical character, timeless features and island views, and together they accommodate up to approximately 225 guests.
Ceremonies can take place on the East Lawn, where gardens and the skyline form the backdrop. The ceremony setup includes white folding chairs, a sound system for the officiant and a registry signing table, with a backup location reserved on the Upper Verandah.
Dinner and dancing move to the second floor of the clubhouse. The Ballroom seats up to 155 guests, the Enclosed Verandah adds seating for up to 70 more, and the Patricia Room can serve as a dance space or indoor reception area. The North and East Verandahs offer outdoor reception space as well.
The wedding party has a private suite in the Commodores Room, and the club's wedding package includes passed hors d'oeuvres, a four-hour bar, a three-course plated dinner and a menu tasting for two.
Getting there is part of the experience. Guests board private launches to the island from the City Station departure point, and the clubhouse is accessible with ramps, washrooms on both floors and an elevator.
For couples who dream of a summer wedding on the water, with the city glowing across the harbour and a boat ride to begin the evening, the Royal Canadian Yacht Club offers a celebration with timeless nautical charm.
