Roedde House Museum

Some weddings feel like stepping into another era, where every room holds a story and the details have been lovingly kept for more than a century.

Roedde House Museum, in Vancouver's West End, welcomes small wedding ceremonies and receptions in its faithfully restored 1893 Victorian heritage house.

Couples can use six ground-floor rooms, including a parlour and dining room that make natural reception spaces. Porches and verandas around the house offer lovely places for photographs.

The house suits intimate celebrations, with room for up to 50 guests at a standing reception. For an intimate seated meal, up to 12 guests can gather around the antique extendable dining table on its historic chairs, and 35 modern stackable chairs are also available. The wedding party is welcome to use the second-floor bedrooms as dressing rooms.

The 1893 Steinway piano in the Parlour is available to use, along with museum china cups and saucers.

Both vintage and modern kitchens are available, and two ground-floor bathrooms, one wheelchair accessible, serve guests, and four parking spots are available in the shared lot behind the museum. Couples bring their own caterer, with the museum recommending The Butler Did It, The Lazy Gourmet and Out to Lunch, and arrange a liquor licence if serving alcohol.
