Rancho Relaxo Resort, in Clearwater County near Rocky Mountain House, describes itself as a place for hosting the bold, the weird and the wonderful. Run by Juli, Jeff and their family, it welcomes guests to book their own events, including weddings, retreats and reunions.

At the centre is Hangar 18, a nightclub and community hall with a capacity of about 75 to 100 people. Couches and recliners seat around 50, carpets and coffee tables give it the feel of a giant living room, and a full band stage with professional-grade audio is ready for live music, karaoke or a DJ.

A tiki bar, tall tables, eclectic artwork and a VIP lounge at the back give guests plenty to explore as the evening goes on.

Around the property, the finished Bluff Creek log cabin can host small gatherings of up to 10 people and sleep six or more, while an unfinished log cabin, a geodesic dome and a tipi add other spaces to lounge or set up.

A couple might picture friends dancing to a live band, a fire burning outside and the celebration carrying on into the night.
