There is something about a lake that makes a promise feel bigger. At Ramada by Wyndham Jacksons Point, the shoreline of Lake Simcoe is part of the wedding from the first vow.
The resort sits on Lorne Street in Jacksons Point, about an hour's drive north of Toronto, and describes itself as a destination wedding location with a mix of modern banquet facilities and natural lakeside settings.
Ceremonies can take place outdoors on the dock on Lake Simcoe, which accommodates up to 100 guests, or in the Lakeside Garden, which welcomes 200 or more. A Wimbledon chair setup and arch are provided on the dock for the ceremony.
Receptions can be held in one of three indoor halls. Bellagio Hall hosts up to 200 guests and features a stage, a 16 by 16 foot dance floor, a built-in bar and a full music system ready for a DJ. Symphony Hall suits up to 80 guests, and Simcoe Hall up to 50. There is also an outdoor lakeside tent that can host around 60 to 100 guests for dinner and dancing under the evening sky.
Wedding packages include Chiavari chairs and an arch for the reception, full table settings with linen, centrepieces, chargers, silverware, chinaware and glassware, as well as cake, gift and guest sign-in tables and white glove service. The kitchen offers plated or buffet dinners with a variety of cultural cuisines, along with standard and premium bar packages.
Guests can stay on site at discounted wedding room rates, and the resort also has a spa, the Lakeview Restaurant and Bar with a patio, and boat rentals for those who want to spend more time on the water. A rehearsal on the dock the evening before can often be arranged, with a rehearsal dinner menu available.
For couples who want a Lake Simcoe ceremony by the water and a full reception without anyone needing to drive home, Ramada by Wyndham Jacksons Point offers a lakeside celebration with everything close at hand.
