Some love stories begin in a garden. At the Oban Inn, the gardens have been welcoming guests in Niagara-on-the-Lake for two centuries.
The inn was built as a private home in 1824 by Captain Duncan Milloy of Oban, Scotland, who opened his doors to friends and travellers. It is now designated as a significant heritage resource and is known as the town's first and original country inn, overlooking Lake Ontario and the oldest golf course in Canada.
After a fire on Christmas Day 1992, the inn was re-created as an exact replica and reopened in November 1993, keeping its grace and understated charm.
Surrounded by lush English gardens, the Oban Inn hosts intimate weddings, rehearsal dinners and private garden ceremonies for up to approximately 20 people.
Wedding packages are designed to keep couples and guests relaxed on the day, and the honeymoon suite is personalized for the couple. The team assists from the beginning of planning through the end of the day, and can arrange local bridal services such as a photographer, florist, limousine and wedding cake.
The team can also recommend on- and off-site settings for wedding photos, arrange winery, bicycle and sightseeing tours, and offer special room rates for guests.
With 26 guest rooms, a restaurant surrounded by ponds and gardens, a full-service spa, an outdoor swimming pool and a hot spring, guests can turn a small wedding into a peaceful weekend away.
For couples who want a small garden ceremony steeped in history in the heart of Niagara-on-the-Lake, the Oban Inn offers a setting of quiet beauty and genuine hospitality.
