About
Oakham House

Oakham House has been part of Toronto's story since 1848, and stepping inside still feels like entering another century, with natural light, exposed brick and post-and-beam interiors.

The Gothic Revival heritage building was designed by architect William Thomas as his own private residence and stands at the southwest corner of Church and Gould Streets in the Garden District, on the Toronto Metropolitan University campus.

Weddings unfold across connected spaces. The Thomas Lounge, easily reached from the main entrance, is a naturally lit room of about 2,090 square feet with capacity for up to approximately 100 guests, well suited to ceremonies and cocktail receptions.

Upstairs, the Oakham Lounge offers restored historic details and anchored ceilings in about 1,675 square feet, with capacity for up to approximately 90 guests for seated dinners and more formal celebrations.

For couples drawn to the open air, the terrace can be tented for an al fresco ceremony, cocktail hour or full reception. Spaces can also be combined so a smaller wedding can grow, and the newly renovated Campus Pub and the café add relaxed places to mingle.

Catering is available in-house, with third-party options to discuss with the sales team, and the venue offers audiovisual support, staffing, decor and lighting. Special touches include a baby grand piano, and smaller rooms can serve as bridal suites or green rooms for entertainers.

All of the event spaces are fully accessible, with a lift serving the building. There is no on-site parking, but several public lots are nearby, the closest on Church Street.

For couples who want heritage character in the middle of downtown, with a ceremony, dinner and celebration all under one historic roof, Oakham House offers a setting that feels intimate, storied and easy to make your own.
