Mount Lorne Community Centre

At the Mount Lorne Community Centre, couples can marry under an open-air timber frame pavilion while the Mt. Lorne valley carries the music back to them.

Neighbours in this rural Yukon community built the centre themselves as a place to gather and celebrate, and the Lorne Mountain Community Association now welcomes weddings here.

The pavilion is a generous gazebo-style structure with a stage, solar power with grid access, picnic tables and canvas side panels that can be hung as a wind break.

Indoors, the open-concept hall holds up to 90 people standing or 70 seated, with a commercial kitchen beside it, a sound system and a projector screen.

The surrounding land offers more to explore: over 15 kilometres of ski trails, a disc golf course winding through the woods, a community garden, and a wilderness golf course about a kilometre away. Local wildlife sometimes shows itself along the trails.

For couples who picture a homegrown celebration in a mountain valley, with a dance floor under timber beams and open sky, the Mount Lorne Community Centre offers a wedding full of community spirit.
