There is something quietly lovely about a university campus on a wedding day, a place already full of beginnings, where family can wander the grounds between the ceremony and the celebration.
Mount Allison University in Sackville, New Brunswick, welcomes wedding celebrations through its Conference and Event Services team, bringing together venues, on-campus lodging and meals in one place.
Ceremonies can take place in the University Chapel. Built in 1964, it has a vaulted wooden ceiling and stained-glass windows, and seats approximately 220 guests, with around 170 on the main floor and 50 in the balcony. It welcomes weddings and ceremonies of all traditions, and couples do not need a connection to the university to marry there.
An organ is available for organists, other instruments are welcome, and recorded music can be played through the sound system. The university grounds can also be used for photographs.
For the reception, Tweedie Hall on the main floor of the Wallace McCain Student Centre is a historic room with hardwood floors and an Alex Colville mural, seating up to approximately 150 guests for a banquet or wedding reception.
Smaller celebrations have options too. The Residence Life Zone, an open-concept lounge with moveable tables and glass partitions, suits intimate wedding receptions of around 90 guests, while Gracie's Café overlooks Alumni Field and can host about 150.
Dining, catering and bar services are handled on campus, and summer accommodations are available for guests, so family travelling to Sackville can stay close to the celebration.
For couples who picture exchanging vows beneath stained glass and then gathering with everyone they love on a beautiful Maritime campus, Mount Allison University offers a wedding with history, heart and room for the whole family.
We never use a venue’s photos without permission.
