About
Moulin du Portage

At the Moulin du Portage, couples can say their vows beside the rivière du Chêne and then celebrate inside a stone mill that has stood for two centuries.

The former flour mill sits on a small peninsula in Lotbinière, tucked between cliffs and forest where the river bends. It was built in 1816 by the seigneur Chartier de Lotbinière and was classified as a historic monument in 1964.

For generations it was run by families of millers until floodwater destroyed its machinery in 1929. Local residents rallied to save it in the 1970s, and after careful restoration it reopened in 1985 as an intimate performance hall.

Today the stone walls, rustic character and warm acoustics make it a charming room for a reception, and its stage is ready for musicians or speeches.

An outdoor terrace, the riverbank and a walking trail nearby bring nature right into the day, and the attic houses a permanent exhibit on the mill's history.

For couples who picture a riverside ceremony and a lively party within old stone walls, the Moulin du Portage offers an intimate wedding full of history.
