About
McFarland House

A wedding at McFarland House feels like stepping into early Niagara history, with a Georgian mansion, heritage gardens and the Niagara River close by.

Built at the turn of the 19th century by Scottish immigrant John McFarland, the house is the oldest property owned by Niagara Parks. During the War of 1812 it served as a military hospital for both American and British forces, and it has stood near Niagara-on-the-Lake for more than two hundred years.

The house sits beside the river within McFarland Park, surrounded by heritage gardens kept by a local garden club, where medicinal herbs, kitchen plants and seasonal vegetables grow for the tea room.

The gardens make a lovely setting for the ceremony, and with indoor and outdoor options for up to 40 guests, the house suits an intimate celebration.

The glass-enclosed conservatory tea room adds a charming touch, offering homemade treats and Niagara VQA wines for guests to enjoy.

The house opens seasonally, and the Niagara Parks wedding team can help pair a ceremony here with a reception at one of its other venues.

For couples who picture a small wedding steeped in history, with gardens and the river all around, McFarland House offers a celebration that feels timeless and personal.
