Some places carry their history in every room. At McAdam Railway Station, more than a century of railroading becomes the backdrop to the day.
Built in 1900, the station is a National and Provincial Historic Site and a designated Heritage Railway Station. The former Canadian Pacific Railway station stands in the Village of McAdam, a few kilometres from the New Brunswick-Maine border, and is operated by the McAdam Historical Restoration Commission as an active museum.
The station welcomes weddings, with refurbished rooms, railway artifacts and furniture of railway vintage creating an atmosphere shaped by its past. It suits both intimate celebrations and events of up to 100 guests.
The station describes an elegant dining room in 1900s style, alongside a 53-seat lunch counter and a historic Board Room that was once the hotel lobby and lunch area in 1901.
In true railroad fashion, the station offers full catering for special occasions. Menus feature home-cooked meals, and all food is prepared on site in the station's fully equipped kitchen.
Venue rentals are available from May 1 through December 14, and the station's wedding team is happy to talk through plans with couples.
Guests arriving early might take time to wander among the exhibits and artifacts before the celebration begins, turning the day into a small journey through New Brunswick's railway history.
For couples who love history and want a wedding with real character, home-cooked food and a strong sense of place, McAdam Railway Station offers a celebration surrounded by the story of Canadian railroading.
