Maitland Education Recreation Centre

Some of the loveliest weddings happen in a community hall, where the room becomes whatever the couple imagines.

The Maitland Education Recreation Centre, known as MERC Hall, sits on East McLean Boulevard in Maitland, between Brockville and Prescott, and welcomes weddings, private gatherings and corporate events.

Wedding rentals include tables, chairs, a riser for the head table or ceremony, a sound system and kitchen access for caterers and their serving team.

Without a dance floor, the hall can seat up to 293 people in non-fixed seating, around 231 with seats and tables, and approximately 200 for dining with alcoholic beverages. With a dance floor, it can host around 171 guests at seats and tables or approximately 147 for dining with alcoholic beverages.

Couples bring their own caterer, and a bar is optional. If chosen, the MERC team takes care of the bar setup and staff and serves guests through the evening.

Linens and a table backdrop with twinkly lights can be rented to complement the couple's own decor.

The space is available for the entire day, with the option to add the evening before for setup and the morning after for cleanup, which takes much of the rush out of the day.

A couple might spend the evening before hanging lights and setting tables with family, then return the next day to a room that already feels like home.
