Picture exchanging vows at the edge of Lochaber Lake, then walking a few steps inside as the evening light comes through west-facing windows.
The Lochaber Centre sits roughly halfway between Antigonish and Sherbrooke. Its main building is a modern multipurpose structure opened in 2014 and serving the people of Lochaber and area.
Ceremonies can take place right on the lake, with a choice of the Arch at the Lake or the Gazebo, set with white outdoor chairs.
The main hall is the reception space. Its front windows face west with a panoramic view of Lochaber Lake, and hardwood floors and light walls give couples a clean canvas for their own decor.
The hall holds up to approximately 145 guests for a sit-down meal with a liquor licence. Without a liquor licence it can seat 188 at tables, or 235 with chairs only.
A professionally designed kitchen, fully equipped for small groups or commercial caterers, connects to the hall through pass-through openings. Bar service includes professional servers and security staff.
Wedding bookings include round banquet tables with floor-length white tablecloths, white napkins, chair covers and sashes, a podium, sound system and projector. Couples also have access on the Friday for decorating and rehearsal, and can return on Sunday to collect their things.
The hall and washrooms are wheelchair accessible, and a smaller Community Room holds up to 50 people for more intimate gatherings.
For couples who want a lakeside ceremony and a bright, welcoming hall close by, the Lochaber Centre offers a relaxed rural celebration right beside Lochaber Lake.
