At Lester's Farm Chalet, a wedding feels like a day in the country, even though downtown St. John's is only 15 minutes away.

The chalet is surrounded by 40 acres of farmland and natural beauty, and it was created to serve fresh, homegrown food from the family farm.

From July to September, ceremonies take place outdoors on the grounds, with the chalet ready as a backup if the weather turns. From October to June, couples marry inside the chalet. The grounds are included for photos.

Up to 100 guests can be seated for an indoor ceremony and up to 200 outdoors. For the reception, the chalet seats up to 130 for a sit-down dinner or buffet and holds 200 for a cocktail party.

Menus range from a five-course dinner to a two-course meal, a country-style buffet barbecue or a cocktail reception, with late night snacks like poutine, tacos or ice cream. Custom menus and dietary needs are welcome.

The bar runs from after the ceremony until 1 a.m. with local and imported beer, wine and spirits and signature drinks. Couples may bring their own decorator or choose from the chalet's decor.

For couples who want farm-to-table food and a relaxed country setting close to the city, Lester's Farm Chalet offers a wedding that feels warm and down to earth.
