La Cité Francophone

At La Cité Francophone, a wedding takes on a French accent, with tall windows filling the rooms with light in the heart of Edmonton's historic French Quarter.

The venue's event spaces, known as Vie La Cité, are designed around a French theme, blending old-world inspiration with modern design. There are seven spaces in all, indoors and out.

The grandest hall, La Galerie Royale, takes its cue from the palace galleries of Versailles, with high ceilings and room for up to 220 guests. Le Salon Marquette is a more contemporary hall for up to 120, and Le Salon du Jardin, inspired by small Parisian courtyards and finished with greenery and natural textures, suits a micro-wedding of up to 60.

Outside, a private patio and plaza ringed by mature trees seats 120 and works well for a garden ceremony in daylight or dinner under soft lights after dark. The terrace seats up to 200, and in winter a holiday dome seats up to 35 for a cosy outdoor dinner.

All catering comes from Café bicyclette, the restaurant on site, with French-inspired menus that can be tailored to the couple. The events team also works with florists and stylists to bring the plan together.
