Kilmorey Lodge

A wedding at Kilmorey Lodge brings couples to the shore of Emerald Bay, with Waterton Lake shimmering below the mountains and nearly a century of history in the walls.

Ida Kemmis opened the first Kilmorey as a rooming house in 1926. It was rebuilt in 1935 by one of the builders of the famous hotel on the hill across the bay, expanded into a beloved historic hotel in 1940, and lost to fire in 2009. The new lodge reopened in 2022, adding modern comfort to a classic.

Staff even tell of a gentle spirit nicknamed Mrs. Kilmorey, said to keep a kindly watch over guests.

The lodge hosts weddings, family reunions and retreats, and its team supports couples from planning to the final toast. Catering can be shaped around the day, from casual breakfasts to plated dinners and reception style service.

The dining room is known for fine dining with views of Waterton Lake, and the pub is a cozy spot for a casual gathering. Guests can stay in lodge rooms, many with mountain and lake views, and the lodge is open year round.

Waterton itself, part of the world's first International Peace Park and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, offers hiking, wildlife, wildflowers, golf and horseback riding for guests who stay the weekend.
