Some couples want a ceremony with history in the walls. In Jordan Village, the Lincoln Museum & Cultural Centre offers exactly that, in a limestone schoolhouse that has been gathering people together since 1859.
The museum began in 1953 as the Jordan Historical Museum of the Twenty, founded when land and the 1859 School House S.S. #4 were donated to establish a museum. Volunteers built and sustained it for decades before gifting it to the Town of Lincoln in 1995. After a new purpose-built facility was constructed, it reopened in 2021 as the Lincoln Museum and Cultural Centre, home of the Jordan Historical Museum of the Twenty.
For weddings, the lovingly restored limestone Schoolhouse offers a unique and memorable setting for intimate ceremonies. Wedding rentals here are for ceremonies only, making it a lovely choice for couples who want a meaningful historic backdrop for their vows before celebrating elsewhere.
The museum also rents spaces for baby showers, milestone celebrations, mixers and private gatherings, as well as meetings and conferences, all surrounded by exhibitions and local history.
The grounds connect to the Twenty Valley Trail, which leads to Sho'aríshon Park, a park created with Indigenous partners that includes public art and shaded gathering spaces. A short walk down Main Street brings guests to the shops and amenities of Jordan Village.
Couples planning photography on the grounds should know that professional and wedding photography sessions require prior approval from the museum.
For couples who want to say their vows in an intimate, historic space in the heart of Jordan Village, the Lincoln Museum & Cultural Centre offers a ceremony setting with more than 165 years of community gatherings behind it.
