Getting married on a flower farm means the setting is already in bloom before a single arrangement is placed.
Hummingbird Farm grows specialty cut flowers on the Slocan River Road in the Kootenays, about 35 minutes from Nelson or Castlegar. The rustic, scenic property has river and mountain views, flower fields and heritage buildings that make lovely backdrops for photographs.
The farm is a ceremony venue. The space is completely private and dedicated to the couple on the day, and couples can hold their reception wherever they like afterwards.
A ceremony-only booking allows around two hours for vows and photos for up to approximately 75 guests. A longer option leaves time for a short reception with cocktails and appetizers for up to around 115 guests.
The ceremony site is set with a vintage iron or wooden mountain-style arch, a signing table and seating for every guest on harvest benches and chairs with white linen covers. A sound system with microphone, two flush toilets, setup and takedown are included.
As a working flower farm, Hummingbird Farm is the exclusive florist for weddings on site. Couples can add bar service, a lavender lemonade signature drink, festival tents, cocktail stations, a vintage photo booth area, a bridal preparation space at the main house and an overnight stay in the yurt.
The farm welcomes LGBTQ and BIPOC couples, dogs are welcome at the ceremony, and free informational tours are offered by appointment.
For couples who picture saying their vows among Kootenay flower fields with the river and mountains close by, Hummingbird Farm offers a private, blooming place to begin.
We never use a venue’s photos without permission.
