Antiques, history and the grace of a Victorian mansion give Hughson Hall the feeling of stepping back in time, which makes it a lovely place to begin a marriage.
Hughson Hall is a beautifully restored 1875 Victorian-Italianate mansion in Stratford. Today it is a luxury bed and breakfast run by owners Debra and George.
Outdoor ceremonies take place against the grand front facade and award-winning gardens, with a fountain, front and side porches and a Victorian courtyard surrounded by sculptured gardens and vintage statues.
The property can welcome up to 75 guests in the front or back courtyard. Seated events under a tent are comfortably suited for 45 to 60 guests at round tables, and tents can be set up anywhere on the property.
Indoors, the two front parlours, the formal dining room and a sunroom overlooking the gardens can host up to 30 guests for a standing reception or 20 for a seated event. Indoor ceremonies are available with the overnight wedding and elopement packages.
Hughson Hall offers wedding, micro-wedding and elopement packages that can include planning assistance, a licensed officiant, photography, flowers, cake and an overnight stay with a three-course gourmet breakfast. A preferred vendor list covers caterers, personal chefs and rentals.
Only one event is booked per day, so a celebration is never crowded or rushed. Couples who prefer a traditional setting can also hold the ceremony at Avondale United Church next door and return to the Hall to celebrate.
For couples dreaming of an intimate Stratford wedding or elopement with gardens, Victorian elegance and a beautiful suite waiting upstairs, Hughson Hall offers a setting full of romance and old-world charm.
