Mountains, open fields and endless space surround House of the Friesians, where the views stretch across equestrian countryside and wildlife is never far away.
The property sits at the end of Houlgrave Road near Invermere, British Columbia, within reach of Banff and Calgary. It is home to the Royal Friesian horses, which have appeared in productions such as The Hunger Games and The Caravan.
Ceremonies can take place beneath the Pergola, which frames the mountain view for weddings big and small. Couples can also choose the Barn area, the front of The Shelter or a spot near The Cabin.
The Shelter, the newest addition to the property, has a big glass front, a large kitchen and seating area, and suits groups of up to approximately 120 guests, with outside seating optional for more. Out front there are string lights, fire pits, large wood-fired BBQs and log tables.
The Barn is suited to groups of about 50, with log furniture in its big tack room and a cozy woodstove. The Cabin, a log cabin with its own private hot tub, is ideal for smaller gatherings of up to about 20.
Food can be arranged through local caterers, or couples can bring their own food and drinks and use the kitchens, BBQs and bars on site. Couples are also welcome to bring their own decorations.
The venue can be rented in full or in part, and beds are available for about 40 people, with room for guests to camp or bring trailers and motorhomes.
A couple might arrive on the first day, celebrate the ceremony, reception and dinner on the second, and finish with a brunch together on the third.
For couples who picture horses, mountain views and a few unhurried days with everyone staying on the property, House of the Friesians offers a wedding with room to spread out.
We never use a venue’s photos without permission.
