Some barns hold hay. This one holds two centuries of history, and now it holds weddings.
Heritage View Barn sits on a private country estate in Cookstown, surrounded by rolling hills, farmland and a winding drive. The barns on the property date back to the early 1800s, when the Bettie family settled the land, and today the estate is family owned and operated by Robert and Regina Armstrong, the second family to farm it.
The restored 1900s barn has two levels, a large deck and a grand entry staircase, giving it a feeling that is both elegant and rustic. It accommodates 140 people, and the surrounding grounds combine manicured lawns and farm fields set privately at the back of the property.
Couples can choose from two outdoor ceremony locations, Valley View and the Courtyard, each with picturesque views. The Cellar offers a lovely indoor backup if the weather turns, and a hand-crafted arbour and ceremony benches are part of the package.
After the vows, guests can drift to the Cocktail Bar, housed in a rustic 1800s building that once served as a wood shed with a Sunday School loft above. Inside the barn, the Granary Bar was hand-crafted from the hemlock boards of the original granary.
The Bridal Suite, restored from part of the old farmhouse to a style of rustic glam, gives the couple a place to get ready, while a stone fire pit hand-crafted by the venue's own team becomes a gathering place as the evening cools.
Harvest tables, round tables, Chiavari chairs and wine barrels are included, along with an antique tractor for photographs, ample parking and wheelchair accessibility. Couples can work with the barn's preferred vendors or bring their own, and the venue offers Smart Serve bartenders.
For couples who want a countryside wedding with real history, room for their favourite people and a fire pit glowing at the end of the night, Heritage View Barn offers a setting that feels both rooted and wonderfully romantic.
