About
Hamilton Civic Museums

A wedding with Hamilton Civic Museums lets couples say their vows among historic homes, mature gardens and old stone walls that have stood in the city since the 1800s.

The City of Hamilton runs a family of heritage sites, several of which open their grounds and historic buildings for ceremonies and receptions.

At Dundurn National Historic Site, couples can marry on the Maple Walk under a canopy of maple trees looking out over Burlington Bay, or in front of the classical Cockpit with the Italianate lines of Dundurn Castle behind them. The 1870s Coach House, with its peaked wood beams and original stone walls, hosts up to 110 guests for an indoor ceremony.

Battlefield House Museum & Park in Stoney Creek sits beneath the Niagara Escarpment, with forest, heritage gardens, a winding creek, two early 19th century homes and a stone monument offering several spots for vows, for up to 150 guests. The Cellar, with its beamed ceiling and 1830s décor, seats 70 for a reception.

Fieldcote Memorial Park & Museum in Ancaster offers seven secluded acres of tall firs and perennial gardens, with ceremonies under the trees, on the lawn under tents or on flagstone patios beside the Tudor cottage. It can host up to 150 for a ceremony or a banquet.

Other options include The Stable at Whitehern, an 1850s cottage-style space with limestone walls overlooking the historic gardens, and The Woodshed at the Hamilton Museum of Steam & Technology, with soaring 1857 post and beam architecture for up to 75 seated guests.

For couples who picture vows beneath old maples or beside a castle, with Hamilton's history all around them, Hamilton Civic Museums offer a wedding steeped in the city's heritage.
