There is something special about celebrating in a place built for performance, where the stage, the lights and the sound are already waiting.
Glasgow Square Theatre sits on the East River of Pictou in the heart of downtown New Glasgow. Since opening in September 2001, it has presented music, comedy, dance and live theatre on its award-winning indoor and outdoor stage.
The theatre also welcomes rentals, and its flexible spaces host everything from meetings and conferences to receptions, weddings and community events.
The main theatre can accommodate up to approximately 250 seated guests or around 290 standing. For smaller gatherings, the green room holds up to approximately 61 people.
Couples can rent the entire facility, including the main theatre and stage, the green room, dressing rooms and lobby area. A three-day rental option, popular with weddings and other large events, spreads the time across a weekend so there is room for setup, the celebration and wrapping up afterward.
For a larger gathering, the entire facility can also be booked with the outdoor amphitheatre, adding the parking lot as event space and bringing the riverside setting into the day.
Every rental space has a projector and screen, and sound and lighting can be run by a Glasgow Square technician. Setup, teardown and cleaning support is available, along with table linens in event-specific colours and sizes.
Rentals also include use of the rotunda and hallway as public spaces, giving guests somewhere to mingle between moments.
