Gallery 78 feels like stepping into a story that has been unfolding for well over a century, where original stained glass windows, beautifully crafted decorative woodwork and hardwood floors set the mood before anyone says a word.
The gallery occupies a stately 19th century Queen Anne Revival style mansion in Fredericton's historic downtown, overlooking the Green and the Wolastoq.
Established in 1976, it is the oldest private art gallery in New Brunswick, representing emerging and established Atlantic Canadian artists. Exhibitions change monthly, so the art surrounding a celebration is always a little different.
The gallery welcomes wedding ceremonies, wedding showers and parties, along with anniversaries and other special occasions.
Gallery 78 can accommodate up to 50 people, making it a natural fit for an intimate wedding where every guest is close enough to hear the vows.
Couples are invited to come in and talk through their plans with the gallery team, and a walk-through is encouraged to see the potential of the space and decide where special features of the event will go.
The location keeps everything close. The Beaverbrook Art Gallery, Christ Church Cathedral, the Provincial Legislature and the Fredericton Convention Centre are all just steps away, and a couple might wander along the river for photographs before returning to the house.
For couples who picture a small, meaningful wedding among art and heritage architecture in the heart of Fredericton, Gallery 78 offers a setting with character in every room.
We never use a venue’s photos without permission.
