At the Fritz Community Centre, a wedding unfolds beside Lake St. Louis, with a waterfront park and landscaped gardens just beyond the door.
Run by the Town of Baie-D'Urfé in Montreal's West Island, the centre is a historic local landmark, and the town welcomes non-residents as well as residents to celebrate here. From the building, guests look out over Fritz Memorial Park toward the lake.
Couples can keep the whole day in one place: the ceremony, the photographs in the gardens and by the water, and the reception afterwards. The park around the centre has a gazebo that doubles as a bandstand for summer concerts, and a tent can be added for an outdoor setup.
The main hall covers about 920 square feet, with a small meeting room upstairs, and holds up to 55 guests seated or 75 standing. It comes with padded chairs, round and rectangular tables, air conditioning, Wi-Fi and accessible washrooms, and the building is accessible to guests with reduced mobility.
A kitchen set up for caterers includes fridges, a freezer, a stove and a commercial dishwasher, so couples can bring in the food they love. There is parking on site, and celebrations can run until 1 a.m. on weekends.
For couples who picture an intimate celebration with the lake in view and gardens for their photographs, the Fritz Community Centre offers a classic small wedding with a true West Island waterfront setting.
