Some halls are built by a whole community. Fraserwood Hall was raised through bingos, socials, donations and, famously, the sale of a great many perogies.
Located on PTH 231 in Fraserwood, in the heart of Manitoba's Interlake, the hall sits about 10 minutes west of Gimli and roughly an hour from Winnipeg's north perimeter. It welcomes wedding socials, receptions, banquets and many other celebrations.
The current 9,600 square foot hall was completed in 2004 on a 7 acre property, with geothermal heating and cooling for guests' comfort and easy wheelchair accessibility.
Guests arrive into a spacious foyer with a coat check, sofas, washrooms and a meeting room. Through glass doors, the main hall can seat more than 450 guests.
An expandable stage overlooks a hardwood dance floor, with room for a band or theatre production. The main room also has a canteen, wet bar facilities and a government inspected commercial kitchen.
Both long and round tables are available. The hall's staff can cater the event, or couples may bring their own caterer.
Fraserwood was settled in the early 1900s by Ukrainian, Polish and German farmers, and the hall still carries its original legal name, The Ukrainian National Peoples' Home of Taras Shevchenko. Volunteer staff aim to make every guest feel at home.
With lots of parking and an easy drive from Highways 7, 8 and 9, it is a practical gathering place for guests coming from across the region.
For couples who want room for a big guest list, a real dance floor and a warm community spirit, Fraserwood Hall offers a celebration with Interlake hospitality at its heart.
