Some places feel as though they have been quietly waiting for a wedding. Filberg Park, with its heritage lodge, old trees and open views across the water, is one of them.
Set on nine acres of landscaped waterfront overlooking the Comox Harbour, the park was once the home of logging industrialist Robert Filberg and his wife, Florence. Today it is a municipal heritage site owned by the Town of Comox and operated by the non-profit Filberg Heritage Lodge and Park Association.
The grounds hold 130 varieties of rare and exotic trees, seasonal gardens, hundreds of rhododendrons and a stream winding through meadows, giving couples a garden setting that changes with every season.
Ceremonies can take place in several spaces. The Upper Meadow looks out over the Comox Harbour and Glacier and accommodates up to 200 guests. The Grape Arbour is a 90-foot covered aisle of grapevine, wisteria, roses, honeysuckle and Virginia creeper for up to 150 guests, while the Harbourview Lawn offers an unobstructed waterfront and Comox Glacier view for up to 150.
For smaller gatherings, the Front Lawn beside the historic lodge welcomes up to 40 guests with ocean views, and the semi-secluded Big Leaf Maple Oasis holds up to 25. All guest counts include the wedding party.
A ceremony rental includes use of the chosen area from 10am to 5pm, white folding chairs, a wooden signing table and bench, directional signs, three parking spaces and a one-hour rehearsal. Only one wedding is booked per day, and couples can use any part of the park for photographs.
The park is an outdoor venue, so two 10 x 10 tents can be rented with advance notice. The Comox Rotary Stage can also be rented for special events and celebrations.
For couples who picture exchanging vows among heritage trees and gardens beside the harbour, Filberg Heritage Lodge and Park offers a ceremony setting rooted in history and shaped by the coast.
We never use a venue’s photos without permission.
