There is something about water that makes a celebration feel lighter. At False Creek Yacht Club, the water becomes part of the day from the first toast to the last dance.
The club is a small private club whose marina is known locally as the Star of False Creek. Its dining lounge, with floor-to-ceiling windows, and an outdoor wrap-around patio offer some of the most spectacular water views in the city.
The club welcomes wedding ceremonies, receptions, rehearsal dinners and smaller receptions for out-of-town guests. Ceremony-type seating is available for up to approximately 100 guests.
For the reception, the lounge can host around 80 guests for a sit-down dinner or approximately 100 to 120 for cocktails, with a total capacity of around 150. The patio seats about 38.
A fully licensed bar with professional bartenders, a dance floor and a flexible, accessible lounge layout bring the celebration together. The club's caterer can work with couples on a menu and theme, and outside vendors are welcome for décor, music, setup and catering.
Outside, the patio deck offers comfortable seating, firepits, barbeques and seasonal heat lamps, so guests can linger by the water as evening settles in.
Generous free parking surrounds the clubhouse, hotels are just a couple of blocks away, and a water ferry to Granville Island is close by.
As a private members club, it hosts a limited number of events for the general public each year, though non-members are still welcome to enquire.
For couples who picture saying yes beside the water in the middle of the city, False Creek Yacht Club offers an intimate, relaxed celebration on the shores of False Creek.
