There is a particular quiet that settles over a mountain camp, and it suits a wedding beautifully.
Easter Seals Camp Horizon sits in Kananaskis Country just outside Bragg Creek, about 45 minutes from Calgary, on 62 acres of wilderness with mountain views, forest trails and rustic charm. The camp was designed with accessibility in mind, so every guest can enjoy the outdoors comfortably.
Ceremonies can take place in several outdoor settings: the Main Hall Courtyard and The Clearing, a forest space off the Timber Falls Trail, each for up to 100 guests, The Meadow for up to 120, The Fire Pit for up to 80, and The Lookout Point, overlooking a marshland, for an elopement of up to 10.
The Main Hall has open-beam ceilings, floor-length windows with mountain views, a wood-burning fireplace and a chandelier. It hosts ceremonies and receptions for up to approximately 150 guests, seated or cocktail style.
Outdoor receptions are possible too. The Main Hall Lawn seats around 100, and the Main Field, the largest outdoor area, seats around 150 or up to 180 for a cocktail reception, with room for tents, food trucks and games.
In-house catering offers buffet or family-style service, and every wedding includes a dedicated on-site host for facility needs.
One of the camp's great strengths is that people can stay. Lodges such as Eagle's Nest, Wolf's Den, Moose Lodge, Wapiti Lodge and Venture Lodge sleep from 20 to 48 guests each, and a honeymoon yurt with a wood-burning stove awaits the couple.
Proceeds from each wedding support Easter Seals Alberta programs for people with disabilities and medical conditions.
For couples who picture a relaxed wilderness weekend with everyone staying close, Easter Seals Camp Horizon offers a celebration with heart.
