About
Domaine Cataraqui

At Domaine Cataraqui, a wedding takes place in a classified heritage estate in Sillery, with historic gardens, a rose garden and a sweeping view of the St. Lawrence.

The house was built in 1831 for James Bell Forsyth and enlarged in 1851 by merchant Henry Burstall. It later belonged to banker Charles Eleazar Levey and then the Rhodes family, before the Québec government acquired it in 1975 and began restoring it in 2009.

The grounds blend manicured gardens with woodland that covers about half the property. A French-inspired kitchen garden, fruit trees, herb beds and the preserved greenhouse structures all add to its charm.

Ceremonies can be held indoors or out, including in the interior courtyard. The rose garden and the gardens around the house make beautiful backdrops for photos.

Receptions take place in the Salle Vézina-Tessier, which looks onto the small historic winter garden. The interiors were renewed in keeping with the English manor style of the house, and the multipurpose rooms suit both large receptions and smaller gatherings.

The estate is managed by the Commission de la capitale nationale du Québec, with event rentals handled by its rental partner. Free parking is on site.

For couples who picture roses, river views and the elegance of a nineteenth-century manor, Domaine Cataraqui offers a wedding steeped in the history of Québec City.
